Giants Earn Clutch Win, 2-1
|
In a well-pitched game between the Detroit Giants and the Halifax Heathens, pitcher Danny Offen was superb. The Detroit right-hander helped his team win, 2-1. Devin Wickliffe was credited with the save, his 46th in 54 tries. Detroit is in second place in the American Conference North East Division with a record of 76-71.
Detroit used the timely hitting of Bob Gilmore to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Giants on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"It was a good effort all around," said Offen.
