Scorpions Victorious at Carolina, 8-4
|
The Syracuse Scorpions defeated the Carolina Reapers, 8-4, in part because of second baseman Alex Cruz. Cruz went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 times for the Scorpions. Ivan Medina earned the win for Syracuse. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 8-10. Even with the win, the Scorpions have a dismal 51-95 record.
The Scorpions took advantage of an error in the top of the fifth inning. Syracuse was leading 4-0 when Guillermo Ramos hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put the Scorpions in front, 6-0.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Cruz. "And not try to do too much."
