Barreto Slugs Marauders to 7-4 Win
|
Carlos Barreto was a major factor in the 7-4 Philadelphia win over Hollywood. The Marauders right fielder was 2-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Philadelphia starter Corbett Wright was credited with the win after throwing 108 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 16-6. Chris Jacoby earned the save for Philadelphia, his 42nd.
Philadelphia used a clutch at-bat from Danny Pierce to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Marauders ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Pierce.
Philadelphia, at 93-53, is 18 games up in the American Conference North East Division.
