Fleet Pin 5-4 Loss on Fountain Hills

The San Diego Fleet picked up a win at Peter Seidler Memorial Stadium, dropping the Fountain Hills 23ers, 5-4. Rodrigo Lemus, who is tied for 2nd in the NC in quality starts with 20, was the difference-maker. Lemus got the win, improving to 12-9. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 4 runs. Lorenzo Landin closed it out for his 2nd save.
The Fleet got a big at-bat from second baseman Jason Cox. For the game, Cox went 1-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 3 RBI. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 7th double of the season gave San Diego a 5-2 lead.
In postgame comments to the San Diego Citizen, Lemus said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
San Diego goes to 87-58. The win puts them 15½ games up in their division.
