The Hollywood Stars and Fountain Hills 23ers squared off at Fountain Park.
The Hollywood Stars trumped the Fountain Hills 23ers, 7-2, at Fountain Park. Hollywood first baseman Eric Daniel was terrific. He was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Logan Mayhew, the winning pitcher, is now 6-2. He went 7.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 1.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Ricky Lopez? The Hollywood shortstop had a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Stars on top, 7-2. For the game, Lopez had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Lopez.
The Stars are now 25-32, while the 23ers fall to 32-25.
