Beasley Helps Halifax Cruise to 15-2 Win
The exploits of left fielder Chris Beasley, who finished 3rd in the AC in runs with 103 in 2016, helped the Halifax Heathens defeat the Cleveland Wild Things, 15-2. Beasley was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Picking up the win was Miguel Berrios. He went 8 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits. The left--hander struck out 9 and walked 1. With the win, Halifax pushed its record to 84-60.

The Heathens got an important contribution from center fielder Juan Ortega, who in the bottom of the second punched a 2-2 fastball into center for a bases-clearing double. It was his 28th double of the season and put the Heathens ahead, 5-0.

Cleveland manager Brandon Harper called the blowout loss "a real dud."
