The San Diego Fleet defeated the New York Nightmare, 8-5, in National Conference action at Nightmare Stadium. Nolan Lazarus pulled his weight. The 8-year veteran was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. San Diego reliever Brad Hower snagged the win, upping his record to 3-3. Tony Rosario shouldered the loss. The Fleet now own a record of 79-65.

San Diego used a timely hit from 29-year old shortstop Luis Perales to get the win. The third baseman delivered a bases-clearing triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Fleet on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was huge.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Perales said. "We did a good job of that today."
