Geeslin Helps Nightmare Defeat Fire, 6-1
|
The New York Nightmare stopped the San Francisco Fire, 6-1, at San Francisco Grounds. The Nightmare got a big game from Bill Geeslin, who went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. New York reliever John Way got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Gordie Clifford was tagged with the loss. The last-place Nightmare are 27-30.
Rob Black came through with a big-time hit for New York. The designated hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Said losing manager Zach Freeman: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."
