Maroons Dumped, 4-1, by Vancouver
|
With Brian Shultz leading the charge, the Vancouver Mounties defeated the Montreal Maroons, 4-1. Shultz hit 2 home runs for the Mounties. The winning pitcher was 28-year old left-handed pitcher Jesus Fernandez. He tossed 106 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits. The Mounties, at 70-74, inhabit third place in the National Conference West Division.
Shultz made an early impact for Vancouver when he stroked his 20th home run of the season. The solo home run, which came in the top of the third, put the Mounties on top, 2-0.
"I thought we played a nice game," Shultz told the Vancouver Daily. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
