Whistlers Fall, 6-4, to Mata, Scorpions
|
A good performance from center fielder Jason Mata helped the Syracuse Scorpions defeat the Boston Whistlers, 6-4. Mata was 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 for the Scorpions. Chris Dries, the winner, is now 6-16. He struck out 3 and walked 4 over 5.1 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. The Scorpions improved their record to 52-91 by beating Boston.
With two out in the bottom of the third, Billy Totten put Syracuse in front, 2-1, with a run-scoring single. The Scorpions went on to win the ballgame.
"Wish we'd had more wins to celebrate like this one," said Totten.
