Whistlers Get One-Run Win at Syracuse
|
The Boston Whistlers picked up a win at Scorpion Stadium, knocking off the Syracuse Scorpions, 5-4. On the mound for Boston was right-hander Josh Cowels. He played a key role in the triumph. Mark Dudley got the save, the 33rd for him this season. Boston, at 72-71, is 8 games up in the American Conference Central Division.
Ryan Canton dealt the Scorpions a blow in the top of the fifth. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Boston leading 3-2, Canton, who is a three-time All-Star, hit a 2-2 changeup for a 2-run single.
Boston manager Ben Foster called it "a good, solid win."
