Vancouver Drops Another One, 5-1
|
The San Francisco Fire reigned over the Vancouver Mounties in damp conditions.
San Francisco Fire pitcher Pat Hovhannisian was in fine form, leading his team past the Vancouver Mounties, 5-1. Marcos Rosas earned the save for San Francisco, his 28th.
Leo Serna had a big 2-run home run for the Fire in the top of the fifth inning. With San Francisco leading 3-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from Lance Goecker, who is tied for 8th in the NC in strikeouts with 125, and punished it. The result was his 16th home run of the season, which put the Fire on top, 5-0.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Brian Burnett.
Vancouver is in the throes of a long losing streak, which is now 9 games.
