Pines Lose to Eagles, 3-1
|
The Indianapolis Eagles earned a close win over the Maine Pines, thanks in part to Ray Dappen. The Indianapolis right-hander, who finished 5th in the NC in innings pitched with 203.2 last year, played a key role in the 3-1 victory. In 7 innings, Dappen surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Morgan Jenkins earned save number 6 this season.
With the bases empty and no one out in the bottom of the sixth inning, left fielder Jim Anderson delivered big for the Eagles. Indianapolis was trailing 1-0 when he belted a solo home run.
Anderson attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
The first-place Eagles now have a record of 80-61.
