Royals Win Squeaker, 2-1, Over Desperados
|
The Cincinnati Royals rode a solid performance from 26-year-old starting pitcher Dave Harvey to a win, beating the Austin Desperados, 2-1, at The Castle. Cincinnati reliever Chase Collins was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Ivan Esparza. Picking up the save was three-time All-Star Roberto Salazar.
Had Rick Brown not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Brown hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Royals.
"You have to trust that what you're doing is going to produce results," said Harvey.
The last-place Royals now have a record of 29-28.
