Giants Deal Marauders 5-4 Defeat
|
Marauders Ballpark was the site of a competitive game between the Philadelphia Marauders and Detroit Giants.
Johnny McCargar did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Philadelphia Marauders from being beaten, 5-4, to the Detroit Giants at Marauders Ballpark. McCargar went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2. Mike Wroten got the win, improving to 9-13. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 3. Lee Maher notched his 22nd save of the season.
Chris Lutz, who finished 4th in the AC in RBI with 113 in 2022, helped out the Detroit cause in the top of the fifth inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the right fielder went 2 for 5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"It's not about individual awards," Lutz told a Detroit Today reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."
With the win, Detroit has a record of 53-88. Philadelphia falls to 82-59.
