Stars Stumble, Lose to Fleet
Jon Pitts knocked in 3 runs to help San Diego beat Hollywood, 8-4. The left fielder collected 1 single, 1 double, and 1 home run. Rodolfo Soto, the winner, is now 9-13. He struck out 9 and walked 3 over 6.1 innings, while allowing 4 runs on 5 hits. The Fleet, at 77-64, sit in second place in the National Conference West Division.

The Fleet got a big hit from catcher Jose Morales. In the bottom of the sixth, Morales smacked a 2-run home run off Hollywood pitcher Victor Trevino. It was his 3rd home run of the season. Suddenly, the Fleet were ahead, 5-4.

"We're feeling good in this clubhouse right now after that one," Morales told the San Diego Today.
