A 4-RBI performance from the 26-year old center fielder Blake Benigno helped the Carolina Crown beat the Boston Whistlers, 7-5. Carolina reliever Andy Hannah got the win, raising his record to 4-2. Blake Bryant was tagged with the loss. Nate McClaskey recorded his 5th save for Carolina.

Benigno contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Carolina in the bottom of the eighth. With his team trailing 5-2, Benigno took a fastball from Blake Bryant and stroked the home run to right. His 13th home run of the season allowed the Crown to leap in front, 6-5.

"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Benigno.

The win makes Carolina 65-75.
