Sea Turtles Dump Syracuse, 7-2, to Win 5th in a Row
|
Daytona Beach Sea Turtles starter Jon Haynes kept the Syracuse Scorpions hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 7-2 win. Haynes yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 9-7. Will Bonorden earned his 2nd save in 2 chances.
Alex Natera had a big run-scoring double for the Sea Turtles in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Daytona Beach leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Chris Dries and swatted a double to right. It was his 15th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sea Turtles ahead, 3-1.
"Nervous? No," said Natera. "It was my time to shine."
Daytona Beach's winning streak has reached 5 games.
