Mounties Sneak By Fire, 3-2

The Vancouver Mounties eked out a 3-2 win versus the San Francisco Fire at San Francisco Grounds. Nobody did more than pitcher Jimmy Grams. He was terrific. Grams picked up the win for Vancouver, going 8 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 13-9. The victory gives the Mounties a record of 77-63.
Alex Chavez, who led the NC in triples with 11 last year, aided the Vancouver cause with a 2-run triple in the top of the eighth. For the game, the third baseman went 1-3 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Vancouver manager Brian Burnett. "Our pregame was pretty good."
