San Diego Fleet starter Takeji Takano pitched well against the Detroit Giants at Ballpark of Detroit, leading his team to a win, 8-4. Lorenzo Landin converted his 1st save in 1 tries. San Diego sits in first place in the National Conference West Division at 84-56.

The Fleet got an important contribution from second baseman Alfonso Sanchez, who in the top of the eighth hit a fastball to left for a bases-clearing double. It was his 26th double of the season and put the Fleet ahead, 8-0.

"When Takeji is on, he can really move the ball around," said San Diego manager Brian Burnett.
