The Austin Desperados beat the Toronto Trash Pandas, 17-4, at Trash Panda Field. The Desperados got a fine performance from right fielder Leo Serna, who was 3-6 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Luke Scrimger, the winner, improved to 12-5. He held Toronto to 2 runs on 4 hits over 5.1 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. The second-place Desperados have won 5 consecutive games.

The Trash Pandas had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Desperados going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old left fielder Ross Gotch came to the plate. Gotch hit a bases-clearing double on a first pitch curveball from Toronto hurler Stephen Stride. It was Gotch's 24th double of the year.

"We maximized our offense today," said Austin skipper Adam Ponder. "That makes everyone's life easier."
