Thanks in large part to shortstop Glenn Valentine, the Detroit Giants clipped the San Diego Fleet, 7-6, in 10 innings. Valentine was 2-3 with a double and 2 walks. Nick Turpen picked up the win in relief. Jesse Vecchio took the loss for San Diego. The 'W' lifts Detroit's record to 52-87.

Detroit got a knockout punch from Edward Salgado. The pinch hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"We need to get rid of the bad mojo," said Valentine. "Maybe this win will help."
