The Fountain Hills 23ers turned back the San Francisco Fire, 7-6, at San Francisco Grounds. David McGowan, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 2-4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Wade McGonigle earned the save for Fountain Hills, his 26th. The 23ers win now puts them at 67-72.
Jeff Yule, who is tied for 7th in the AC in doubles with 36, aided the Fountain Hills cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth. For the game, the shortstop was 1 for 4, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," McGowan said.
