The Daytona Beach Sea Turtles beat the Chicago Gangsters by a score of 6-5. Daytona Beach shortstop George Hutchison deserved the lion's share of the credit. Hutchison went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Sea Turtles. Daytona Beach reliever Christian Chervenka picked up the win, raising his record to 2-1. Ruben Lopez was tagged with the loss. Their 62-77 record puts the Sea Turtles third in the National Conference South Division.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Chris Wagner came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Chicago pitcher Andy Bennett, he hit a 2-2 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Daytona Beach on top, 6-5.

"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Hutchison told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
