Despite a fine performance by left fielder D.J. Van Diest, the Toronto Trash Pandas lost to the Austin Desperados, 7-5. Van Diest went 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win went to Joe McLaughlin in relief, making him now 5-0. T.J. Harrison took the loss for Toronto. Bob Baucke wrapped it up, recording his 44th save.

Austin used the hitting of Eric Barlow to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Desperados on top, 5-2. For the game, Barlow had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.

"A great team win and something real positive we can build on," said Barlow after the game.

The second-place Desperados have won 4 straight.
