Scorpions Sunk by Sea Turtles
|
The Daytona Beach Sea Turtles knocked off the Syracuse Scorpions, 6-5, at Leatherback Park. Derek Maher hit 1 single and 1 double, while driving in 2 runs. Ray Fight picked up the win, improving his season record to 11-10. He struck out 4 in 5.2 innings. Jeff Adams picked up the save, his 31st.
In the bottom of the fifth, Daytona Beach third baseman Alex Natera had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Natera stroked a run-scoring single to left-center. It made the score 6-2, Daytona Beach. For the game, he went 1 for 4.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Daytona Beach manager Edwin Gomez.
Daytona Beach, now 65-73, holds down third place in the National Conference South Division.
