The Detroit Giants and San Francisco Fire provided some drama for the home crowd.
Miguel Berrios, who finished 4th in the AC in ERA with 3.07 in 2019, was locked in. The left-hander led the San Francisco Fire to a 2-1 win against the Detroit Giants at Ballpark of Detroit. Berrios yielded no runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 10-9.
Dusty Ward had a critical at-bat with no one out in the top of the sixth for San Francisco. He came through with a run-scoring triple to put San Francisco in front, 2-0.
"We had a good game plan," Berrios said, "and we were able to execute it."
San Francisco is now 63-75, Detroit 70-68.
