Fire Get One-Run Win at Philadelphia
|
The Philadelphia Marauders could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Matthew Thomas into a win. Instead, the San Francisco Fire prevailed, 4-3. Thomas threw 9.0 innings of 7-hit ball. Pat Daughtry, the winning pitcher, is now 6-6. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 1. Marcos Rosas picked up the save, his 25th.
In the top of the third inning of a 0-0 tie, San Francisco designated hitter Eric Blanset reached on an error by the P, driving in 1 run. It broke the deadlock and put San Francisco on top, 1-0.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Blanset, "one at-bat at a time."
At 71-67, San Francisco is in second place in the National Conference West Division.
