Eagles Use Late Score to Top Dragons, 4-3
|
Indianapolis picked up a win at Tennant Healthcare Ballpark, bumping off the Dallas Dragons, 4-3. Pitcher John Hennig was a major reason the Eagles emerged victorious. Vinny Ceja closed the game out for Indianapolis, earning his 9th save. With the victory, the Eagles record stands at 77-61.
Henry Cortez went 2 for 4 with 2 singles for Indianapolis. With one out and the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, Cortez, who is tied for 8th in the NC in hits with 151, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Dallas hurler Mike Braasch, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Eagles a 4-3 lead.
Dallas manager Edgar Puente said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
