Aztecs Get Hard-Earned Win
|
Nick Seago did all he could to help his team prevail. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the New York Nightmare from losing the game, 9-8, to the Mexico City Aztecs in 10 innings at Nightmare Stadium. Seago went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times. Mexico City pitcher Chris Booth earned the win, hiking his record to 9-8. Adam Coleman suffered the loss. Tommy LaBiche was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 5 save opportunities.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Mike Sligar came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing New York pitcher Adam Coleman, he hit a first pitch cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Mexico City on top, 9-8.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Sligar.
New York is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 8 in a row.
