Charleston Gets 10-5 Win Against Whistlers
The Charleston Shiners picked up a win at Ballpark of Charleston, taking down the Boston Whistlers, 10-5. Starting pitcher Josh Reed was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Reed, now 15-3. He tossed 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. The first-place Shiners, at 77-59, lead the National Conference South Division by 7½ games.

The Whistlers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Shiners going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old shortstop Chris Franklin came to the plate. Franklin hit a run-scoring triple on a 1-1 changeup from Boston hurler Sam Naber. It was Franklin's 3rd triple of the year.

"Every manager loves to see an offensive outburst from his team," said Charleston skipper Chad Hart.
