Giants Rally to Eke Out Win
|
Detroit beat San Diego at Ballpark of Detroit, eking out a 6-5 win in 10 innings. The win was due in large part to right fielder Chris Lutz. He went 3 for 6 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Devin Wickliffe, credited with the win in relief, is now 5-6. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. Detroit is third in the American Conference North East Division with a record of 66-69.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With one out, Lutz hit a fastball from Justin Pierce for a solo home run. The Giants, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Lutz.
