The Vancouver Caribou could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Nick Douglass into a win. Instead, the New York Nightmare prevailed, 5-4. Douglass threw 6.1 innings of 1-hit ball. The winning pitcher was five-time All-Star Pat Hovhannisian. He tossed 97 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits. Tony Rosario picked up his 22nd save of the season.

Had Bobby Brenner not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Brenner hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Nightmare.

After the game, New York manager applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.

The third-place Nightmare improved to 50-85.
