Indianapolis Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Indianapolis fans at Eagles Stadium.
A 5-RBI performance from shortstop Scott Goldfein led the Indianapolis Eagles to a win over the Halifax Heathens, 7-6. Indianapolis reliever Morgan Jenkins snagged the win, upping his record to 10-3. Billy Shields shouldered the loss.
Victor Mendez was the walk-off hero for Indianapolis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Eagles third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Indianapolis manager Pete DuBay.
The Eagles lead the National Conference North East Division by a game.
