Win Streak at 6 for Fleet
|
The San Diego Fleet went home winners at San Diego Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Rodolfo Soto. Soto stifled the Detroit Giants, enabling San Diego to grab the 4-1 win. Soto got the win, improving to 6-4. He gave up 3 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. Justin Pierce earned the save for San Diego, his 17th.
San Diego third baseman Paul Pittman contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a sinker to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 44th hit of the season and put the Fleet ahead, 2-0.
Pittman said his team "played with focus and determination."
San Diego has now reeled off 6 straight wins.
