Scorpions Hand Carolina 6-2 Loss
The Syracuse Scorpions welcomed the Carolina Reapers to an afternoon game at Scorpion Stadium.

The Syracuse Scorpions knocked off the Carolina Reapers, 6-2, in American Conference action at Scorpion Stadium. Syracuse pitcher and Ripon, California, native Mike Hammond had an outstanding performance. The Scorpions improved their record to 57-77 by beating Carolina.

Casey Kearney had a big 2-run home run for the Scorpions in the bottom of the first inning. With Syracuse leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a curveball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Tristan Fry and punished it. The result was his 14th home run of the season, which put the Scorpions on top, 3-0.

"I liked his command," said Syracuse manager Josh Gifford. "Mike was throwing strikes."
