The Daytona Beach Sea Turtles weathered an outstanding game by Boston third baseman Kevin Cremo to topple the Whistlers, 7-5. Cremo went 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Ray Fight, the winner, improved to 10-10. He held the Whistlers to 5 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 3. Jeff Adams finished to wrap up his 29th save.

Daytona Beach used the timely hitting of Marcos Santiago to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Sea Turtles ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Santiago. "I think we're going to keep proving that."

Daytona Beach is now 62-71, Boston 67-66.
