Ward Hits 2 home runs in Fire Win
|
With second baseman Dusty Ward leading the charge, the San Francisco Fire defeated the New York Nightmare, 4-3, at Nightmare Stadium. Ward, who finished 2nd in the NC in wins above replacement with 6.3 in 2024, slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Miguel Berrios got the win, improving to 9-9. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 2 hits and 1 run, while striking out 4 and walking 3. Jesus Henriguez, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 32nd save.
San Francisco took a 4-1 lead on Ward's 20th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Sean Muzzy in the top of the seventh, propelled San Francisco to the win.
San Francisco manager Chris Ware called it "a darn good win."
New York now owns a losing streak of 5 games.
