Behind a solid performance from center fielder Bill Shahan, the Detroit Giants defeated the San Diego Fleet, 7-6. Shahan was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 for the Giants. With the win, Detroit pushed its record to 29-27.

Detroit used the timely hitting of Keith Brosch to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Giants on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"To not win that game stings a little bit," said San Diego manager Brian Burnett.
