Danny Reyna, who is tied for 6th in the AC with a 10.0 K/9 rate, imposed his will on the Shiners from the get-go. Relying mainly on his cutter, the right-hander spearheaded the 4-1 Tampa Bay triumph. Tampa Bay's record now stands at 57-76, placing them third in the American Conference Central Division.
Clark Owens, who finished 2nd in the AC in home runs with 29 last year, helped out the Tampa Bay cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the left fielder was 2 for 2 with 2 singles and a walk.
"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Reyna. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."
