Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Gran Estadio Azteca.

The Fountain Hills 23ers dealt the Mexico City Aztecs a 4-3 loss at Gran Estadio Azteca. Joe Zerger was the star on offense. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jaheim Johnson snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-1 on the season. Jeff Cox suffered the loss.

Had Zerger not come through in the top of the 11th, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Zerger hit a run-scoring single. The 23ers took the lead, 4-3, and never looked back.

"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said Zerger.

The loss makes Mexico City 75-58.
