Carolina parlayed a decent outing from starter Jimmy DeMoss into a solid win over the Syracuse Scorpions. The final score was 5-4. DeMoss, now 9-13, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 4, and allowing 4 runs. Picking up the save was top prospect Jake Schmitt.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Mike Green? The three-time All-Star Green stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put Carolina up, 5-4. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Jimmy was pumping the zone," said Carolina manager Julio Rodriguez.
At 55-77, the Reapers find themselves in last place in the National Conference South Division.
