Giants Top Stars, 5-3
|
Ruben Cabriales led the charge as the Detroit Giants defeated the Hollywood Stars, 5-3, in 13 innings at Hollywood Grounds. Cabriales, who is tied for 3rd in the AC in RBI with 43, was 3-6 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Lee Maher, credited with the win in relief, is now 4-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. Tony Wooten closed the door for Detroit, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Cabriales had a game-changing home run in the top of the 13th. On a 0-1 fastball from Jason Hollenbeck, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Giants a 5-3 lead. It was the 11th home run of the year for Cabriales.
"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Giants manager Larry Voltaire.
Detroit has now won 3 in a row.
