Eagles Deal Desperados 3-1 Defeat
|
Indianapolis took on Austin in a contest which featured a pitchers' duel. Brad Bixby, in particular, was fantastic. The Indianapolis right-hander helped his team snag the win, 3-1. The winner was Bixby. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Joe Townsend. Mike Canales recorded his 3rd save for Indianapolis.
Indianapolis used a well-timed hit by Mark Payne to capture the win. The first baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Eagles ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Indianapolis manager Pete DuBay said.
Indianapolis is now 70-62, Austin 70-62.
