Scorpions Edge Sea Turtles, 3-2
|
The Daytona Beach Sea Turtles got a superb performance from pitcher Mal Burkes, but the Syracuse Scorpions still won the game, 3-2. Burkes threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Ken Allbaugh converted his 21st save in 30 tries. Syracuse has now won 5 in a row.
Syracuse used the timely hitting of Justin Scott to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Scorpions on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We busted our tails," said Daytona Beach manager Edwin Gomez. "But we came up short."
