Valverde goes 3-for-5 as Pines Squeeze Past Indianapolis
Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Maine Pines and Indianapolis Eagles.

The Maine Pines dealt the Indianapolis Eagles a 6-5 loss at Eagles Stadium. Jose Valverde was the star on offense. He went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Maine pitcher Stephen Boland got the win. He's now 2-3. Vince Rice was tagged with the loss. Dan Mills earned the save for Maine, his 23rd of the year.

Valverde had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 1-1 fastball from Vince Rice, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Pines a 6-5 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Valverde.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Valverde told the Maine Citizen. "It's as simple as that."

The Pines are now 80-50.
