Gangsters Beaten By Whistlers, 6-1

Nate Benson was locked in. The right-hander led the Boston Whistlers to a 6-1 win against the Chicago Gangsters at The Hideout. The winning pitcher was Benson, now 7-2. He tossed 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 10. The Whistlers improved their record to 71-59 by beating Chicago.
Boston used the stroke of Taylor McLean to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Whistlers ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," McLean told the Boston Observer. "It's as simple as that."
