Philadelphia picked up a win at Marauders Ballpark, bumping off the Detroit Giants, 3-2. Pitcher Corbett Wright was a major reason the Marauders emerged victorious. Chris Jacoby converted his 39th save in 39 tries. The first-place Marauders, at 85-45, now lead their division by 21 games.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Marauders had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when left fielder Danny Pierce hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Julian Bryant and made the score 3-2, Marauders. Pierce went 1-3 with a walk.
Pierce called the win "a team effort."
