San Francisco Defeated By Giants, 4-1

The Detroit Giants defeated the San Francisco Fire, 4-1, in American Conference action at Ballpark of Detroit. Detroit pitcher Quito Herrera had a standout performance. The setback makes San Francisco 29-27.
The Fire had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Giants going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old catcher Evan McCulley came to the plate. McCulley hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch changeup from San Francisco hurler James Dobyns. It was McCulley's 6th double of the year.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said McCulley.
