Hauke Stars as Cavalry Top Firecats, 6-1
|
Brent Hauke, who is tied for 7th in the W-AA with a .390 on-base percentage, led St. Louis to a triumph over Hialeah. The final score was 6-1. The left fielder went 4 for 4, falling a triple shy of the cycle. He scored 1 run and added 2 RBI. Gotam Muthupalaniappan picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-7. He struck out 4 in 5.1 innings. The last-place Cavalry hiked their record to 21-32.
St. Louis used the clutch hitting of Brandon Hund to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cavalry ahead, 4-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Hund told the St. Louis Today. "And padding the St. Louis win column."
