Cavalry Suffer One-Run Loss at Hialeah
|
Hialeah turned a good effort from starter Dan Yeager into a win over the St. Louis Cavalry at Firecats Ballpark. The final score was 2-1. In 5 innings, Yeager surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 4. He allowed no runs. Humberto Lopez, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 9th save.
The Firecats got a big at-bat from shortstop Steve Gonzalez. For the game, Gonzalez went 1 for 3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 8th double of the season gave Hialeah a 2-0 lead.
"We busted our tails," said St. Louis manager Leo Medina. "But we came up short."
St. Louis now owns a losing streak of 5 games.
