Both teams had their chances, but the San Francisco Fire eventually prevailed.
In a low-scoring tilt between the San Francisco Fire and the Detroit Giants, Tom Tchida, who finished 2nd in the NC in ERA with 2.53 in 2020, was the difference-maker. The San Francisco right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. The save went to Marcos Rosas, his 8th this season.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Fire had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the sixth, when third baseman Richard Banales hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Quito Herrera and made the score 2-1, Fire. Banales was 1-4.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Tchida.
San Francisco is now 25-30, while Detroit is 31-24.
